Pistol

2020 Blue Roan Draft Cross Gelding

Big and beautiful, this 16-hand draft cross gelding is the real deal. He’s got the size to make an impression, the color to make you stare, and the loving personality to boot. Pistol knows a day's work but is a total goofball when he’s off the clock. Gentle, kind, and playful, he’s got that “puppy dog” personality. I’ve seen some of the prettiest country in my life from his back, steep mountains, clear rivers, mountain meadows, endless timber, and stunning waterfalls, and through it all, Pistol never missed a beat. He’s been in parades, packed game, ponied colts, carried guests, gathered and sorted cattle, and gone shed hunting. He’s crossed bridges, rivers, and rough terrain. He’ll hobble, stay quiet in camp, and stand for the farrier without a fuss. He will pick you up off a rock, fence, or trailer fender, whatever’s handy. And talk about solid, I once had a colt come apart and run straight into him while bucking, squealing, and stuff flying out of saddle bags. Pistol didn’t so much as blink. Just stood there like, “You done yet?” That’s the kind mind he’s got. He’s got a slow, comfortable lope, performs flying lead changes, side passes, picks up his leads, and neck reins like a dream. He moves off leg pressure and is easy to ride. Pistol’s personality shines through in everything he does. He’s playful and curious, yet respectful, always the first to meet you at the gate and eager to be part of whatever’s going on. He loves people, enjoys attention, and has the kind of demeanor that puts anyone at ease. Home raised, out of our blue roan Percheron stud and one of my dad’s favorite mares.
